This is important because I am convinced that I will be able to excel partly as a result of the support of my family and social support base. Earning the Master’s Degree in Education Counseling simultaneously with the PPS Credential, in particular, attracts me to your program. I especially look forward to studying under Professor XXXX who focuses much of her energy on the study of multiculturalism, the area of educational research in which I hope to distinguish myself in the future.

My watershed moment as an undergraduate student occurred when I drafted a research paper adopting a comparative perspective in the analysis of several Asian cultures. I wanted to investigate how immigration journeys were both similar and different according to the homeland in question, Asians vs. Latinos for example. I had seen much in the literature about the latter and very little about the former. A large part of what I look forward to accomplishing in the future as a school counselor is helping students to achieve their dreams regardless of their ethnicity and background. A large majority of my students will be of a minority decent which is what makes me so excited to work in this field because I will be able to advocate for them and help them achieve something they possibly never thought was possible. I am ashamed of the fact that I cannot yet say that I have reached even an intermediate level in two of my greatest life quests, becoming fluent in both Spanish and American Sign Language. I am only 21, however, and just now beginning to dream a little in both languages. What is most clear to me, is that I am in this for the long term for both Spanish and Sign Language; and this fills me with purpose and motivation to excel as an educator.

I started working and still work as a recreation leader in after school programs. I also helped at-risk junior-high-aged students with homework and engaging them in fun, interactive, and educational activities all while developing strong relationships with them in which they could confide in me about their personal lives and concerns. I began working as a summer school paraprofessional in 2017 where I am a teacher's assistant for a special education classroom. I help teach the students their specific goals and work with them to help develop their social and communication skills. Starting in the Summer of 2016 and continuing in the Summer of 2017 I also volunteered at my local hospital gift shop. For the summer of 2018, I hope to switch departments and start volunteering in the Mom and Baby Department.

In my current position as a Program Leader in the XXXX After School Programs, I interact with and supervise junior high aged students on a daily basis. I have come to develop great rapport with them and we are building trusting relationships. The greatest contribution I see myself being able to make would be to help students realize their potential, make their dreams come true, helping students find the educational and real-world pathway to reachable dreams. I want to help troubled youth, those involved in gang violence or general delinquency. I look forward to many decades to come serving as a HS guidance counselor noted for her dedication to school programs such as career day, college night, and a military day in which each branch of the military can come in and make informative presentations to the students. Along with being a HS guidance counselor I could also see myself working with troubled youth and local group homes on a voluntary basis, helping young people to work out their issues so that they have a chance to realize their potential.

In addition to excelling as a student, I have extensive experience working with large consulting companies such as Accenture and I am currently working on classified research projects with Boeing.

I will always be thankful for the fact that I was able to attend high school in the USA, leaving my native Riyadh for the USA at only 16 years old. Going to high school in America helped me to mature rapidly and greatly broadened my horizons. It also did wonders for my English which went on to empower me to excellence at UCLA where I earned my BS in Computer Science with a minor in Economics. Graduating in June of 2016 in LA with a focus on all things IT, I was especially pleased to have studied and excelled in a Business and Economics Program that is ranked in the top 5% of business schools worldwide.

In addition to my work with Boeing, I am also employed as a researcher and Business Analyst at the KACST (King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology). At some point after earning my Master’s Degree, I hope to start my own company in Information Security and I am excited about the prospect of planning my operations while earning my Master’s Degree in Computer Science at XXXX.

For many years now, over and above my formal studies, I have devoted countless hours to reading about information science, especially in the area of security. I could not be more satisfied with my choice of career because of the way that it combines the possibility of achieving economic security while at the same time serving the interests of society; and not only Saudi society, but potentially on a global level as well.

I have intense passion for Information Security. After the wide spread of the Vauis Wanna virus, I wanted to cry I was so very disappointed at how extensive the damage was and how we had no capability to stop it. This virus shut down telecommunications even in our hospitals in Saudi Arabia and people’s lives were at critical risk. I appreciate the way in which information security is indeed a matter of life and death and I take my work extremely seriously. At KACST, we are responsible for the (DNS) Secured Domain Names System for all of Saudi Arabia in addition to a vast array of other cyber security protocols and precautions. Thus, I learn and grow in my field every day, always facing the latest challenge with great zeal and attention, giving my all. I am fortunate enough to have been awarded a full scholarship to earn my Master’s Degree in the USA and USC is my first choice for a variety of reasons, most of all the sheer excellence of your program but also its location, since LA is my adopted home in the USA. In preparation, I am studying intensively online at night working on my Ethical Hacking Certification and will soon be starting the Comptia Security+ course. I thank you for considering my application to Computer Science at XXXX.

I appreciate the fact that XXXX is among the finest universities in NYC with a campus next to Columbus Circle, just a few blocks away from my current office. I plan on completing the program part-time, learning as much as I can in the classroom setting, being able to walk to class after work and taking classes in person is very appealing to me. XXXX University has a really strong alumni base in NYC and I am most keen on the idea of counting myself one of its members, as I see this as beneficial for my continued professional advancement after graduating from Fordham.

A Tibetan-American, I immigrated to the United States at the age of 6. The past two generations of my family have lived in four different counties. In Tibet, prior to 1959 when it was conquered by China, my grandparents were large real estate owners and my family was forced into exile to India as refugees. This helps to account for the fact that I have day-dreamed of owning investment properties since I was a child, recovering the long-lost family fortune became my fantasy, which I hope to turn into a reality, especially if I am accepted to your Master’s Program at Fordham. My parents grew up in India and eventually moved to Nepal where I was born and spent the first several years of my life before immigrating to the USA where I was raised. The center of my professional hopes, dreams and visions, is economic revitalization through affordable housing projects where they are most needed. I plan to work as a consultant or analyst engaged with both private and government sectors – always with an eye to the building of sustainable, grassroots community. From small non-profits through churches or advisory neighborhood commission, I seek to engage the entire community in the realization of affordable housing projects.

I began my career in NYC Real Estate as an intern at XXXX Companies. While I was there, I worked alongside the rest of the staff - all of whom held their MS Degree in Real Estate - and so I profited greatly from general conversation. They encouraged me to pursue my Master’s Degree as well. After completing the program, I hope to return to the workforce as a full-time employee of a cutting-edge company like XXXXe that is not only socially and environmentally conscious but also financially lucrative. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to work in various aspects of the real estate industry. I started my real estate career while I was in college working part-time assisting local brokers on commercial transactions for NAI Isaac in Lexington, KY. There, I worked on the early stages of an affordable housing portfolio acquisition in Kentucky. The buyer of the affordable housing portfolio was based in New York City: XXXX Companies. My assistance in the early due diligence stage of the acquisition landed me an internship in New York City. While my time at XXXX Companies was short, it helped me to muster confidence that I can excel as a graduate student at Fordham because I gained a solid footing in the area of affordable housing development. I later accepted a full-time position as an analyst for a real estate appraisal and consulting firm and I am currently employed as a Client Manger for XXXX Commercial. My current position has provided me with the opportunity to interact with numerous brokers, owner and buyers. I thank you for your consideration of my application to Real Estate at XXXX.

Fully dedicated to lifelong learning in the international context, I long to attend to University of Southern California’s Master of Real Estate Development Program to pursue my life goal of creating meaningful physical spaces that promotes healthy human activity, creativity, and commerce, designing human-cantered commercial and residential housing with global perspectives.

I have approached real estate development from an entrepreneurial perspective and have learned experimentally the comprehensive skill sets needed to make successful businesses decisions concerning development from the ground up. Born in a small city along the border of China and North Korea, I grew up witnessing North Koreans risking their lives for a more democratic state and often fleeing oppression, a desperate attempt to build better lives for themselves and their children. Later, I observed, both in Canada and the US, the sacrifices that migrants make to help their children gain a foothold upon which they can build new lives with security and freedom. After my family immigrated to Canada, we spent half a year in each country until I reached the tenth grade, when I stayed with a homestay family in Vancouver and later moved to Princeton for my undergraduate studies in Comparative Literature. These experiences of constantly adapting and thriving in different cultures helped me to develop a multicultural mindset especially sensitive to the needs of new immigrants from China.

Working in France, Canada, China during undergraduate breaks, as a reporter and a teacher, broadened my horizons and experience. My position as a part-time teacher during my semester abroad in China, with New Oriental Technology, the leading Chinese study abroad and language training company, further honed my understanding of international education and migration of children and their families much like that of my own. When I found myself at a podium in Beijing giving a lecture to more than one hundred Chinese students, I realized that I was on my way. When I returned to Princeton for my junior year, I enrolled in the Teacher Preparation Program and founded my own test prep company in Vancouver. Based on my own experience of achieving near perfect SAT scores, I launched a technique-based SAT curriculum in Vancouver. The massive influx of immigrants from China to Canada under the Investor Immigrant Program, my market segmentation of Chinese immigrant students aiming for top US schools and the effective 20 day curriculum, allowed me to develop quickly and expand classes to over 40 new students during each of my Christmas and summer vacations. I invested the profit from my company in real estate in Vancouver.

In hindsight, the rapid increase in supply and demand for international education services have shaped my initial understanding of real estate, an essential need and reflection of residents and newcomers alike. I have long been engaged in community discussions and routinely spend several hours a day staying up on the news and the literature, especially those concerning China and its relationship to rest of the world. Over the next seven years, I have built a niche college consulting brand and transitioned to a managerial role for three counsellors. I have also continued to expand my real estate portfolio and obtained my real estate license, taking a variety of professional development courses for both Realtors and developers, from marketing to project management to construction courses.

After three acquisitions and earning a profit margin of 10%+ annual for each one, for consecutive years, I started investing along with my father in 2011, as my parents had moved to Vancouver. My father improved his English and obtained his professional home builder’s permit. Together, my father and I have developed, built and sold residential houses, multi-family suits in Vancouver and are currently developing a 30-unit condo project and 15 luxury single houses in Sechelt, British Columbia, with an expected revenue of over $40 Million. I had the privilege of learning and making decisions about purchasing the land, finding the subcontractors and doing the marketing. I have worked and learned from mentors, consultants as well as experimentally, the roadmap and skill set of subdivision, negotiation with the government, acquiring development and building permits and so forth. I have come to love the comprehensive science of real estate and the role of developers to enrich the community. Our efforts in real estate investment have allowed our family to reunite, being together in one city for the first time in almost two decades.

Growing up in Vancouver, I watched it become one of the least affordable cities in the world, with speculators buying up homes just to leave them empty; locals protesting and young people leaving, soaring property taxes and loss of community spirit. Local Chinese who grew up in the city often came into conflict with more recent Chinese immigrants, and discussions of race and immigration have become a sensitive topic for the famously multicultural city. I want to help solve conflicts and find solutions to challenges in these areas, especially with respect to multicultural communities such as Vancouver, from acquisition to design to construction. I am grateful for the first hand experience of growing up and working in in this particular field laboratory of migration and globalization, so that I better understand the root causes of needs and tensions that affect our increasingly globalized world.

It would be a special honor for me to study under Professor Fallertta, since I very much admire her work on the the interplay of architecture, development and planing. I would love to share in research on built environments resulting from migration, especially the Chinese diaspora, as I hope to one day realize my dream of building physical landmarks that embody considerations of both globalization and Chinese heritage and sustainable homes that allow for harmonious environments in a global age. A lifelong learner, I am currently pursuing an executive master’s program in Education Entrepreneurship, a joint program by the Wharton School and the Graduate School of Education at University of Pennsylvania. Courses in marketing, economics, finance (financial modeling), management and entrepreneurship have honed my business skill sets in both education and in real estate. The Price School’s perfect combination of course offerings on real estate capital markets, development, construction and planning will provide me with precisely the tools I need to leverage my past experiences in such a way as to make my maximum contribution to both public and private sectors, including planning techniques, finances and and economy on a macro level; and that of scale.

The University of XXXX is my first choice for further graduate study in real estate development. The expertise and experience of the XXXX School’s top-notch faculty in academia and practice, with exposure and opportunities in the vast California real estate environment and network of the most established professionals in development, government, law, design and finance will be invaluable stepping stones for the development of my career. I sincerely believe that pursuing the Master’s Degree in Real Estate Development at UXX will enable me to pursue my dream of building more sustainable environments based on two essential pillars of society, housing and education, and ultimately help more families live, laugh and learn together in communities of homes, businesses and schools that I hope to build.

Thank you for consideration my application.

This is the primary reason why I became an extremely highly motivated and hard-working dentist.

My father is a Genito-Urinary surgeon and my mother is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. My first intention as a child was to follow in my father’s footsteps and become a surgeon; but my vision changed from medicine to dentistry largely because of a bicycle accident that injured my upper right central incisor as well as breaking my right arm. I lived with a broken tooth for the next 7 years because the few dentists that there were in our small town in Egypt did not perform endodontic procedures.

My joy was indescribable when my tooth was finally restored to its normal shape, once we were able to save up the money to travel to Cairo so that I could be treated by an Endodontist. The restoration of my central incisor was a transformational, watershed moment in my life; and it is from this moment that I date my dedication to the cause of becoming the finest dentist possible, so that I could bring this kind of joy to others.

Getting accepted to and completing dental school in our native Egypt, however, was made more difficult by the fact that I was born into and raised in a Coptic Christian household. Egypt is a majority Muslim country and Christians – a small minority making up only 10% of the population – are discriminated against. As a Christian, I was considered an infidel by Muslim majority. I am convinced this is why I was denied entry to dental school in Egypt after my first interview nine years ago. I had excellent grades; I was rejected on the basis of my religion.

I decided to immigrate to the USA for a variety of reasons and did so in 2008; most of all, I wanted to become a dentist and to receive my education in the country where dentistry is on the cutting edge, the most advanced in the world. Completing my undergraduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University, I did well on the DAT and was accepted to Meharry Medical College’s School of Dentistry. I honestly believe that I am the hardest working student in my dental school class. I study for my classes constantly with almost no leisure time at all because I am driven not just to earn the degree but to excel and to achieve a high rank, practicing a broad variety of different clinical procedures: including fixed and removable prosthodontics as well as endodontic and periodontic procedures. First, I spent long days in the laboratory practicing procedures on a manikin. Once I began helping real live patients last year, then I more fully realized how those long hours in the laboratory were paying off.

I want to be a general dentist because I truly enjoy doing all sorts of different procedures so I am considering simply making general dentistry my permanent professional focus without choosing an area of specialization. Throughout dental school at Meharry, I have served as a volunteer with multiple organizations helping to raise awareness of the importance of preventive oral health care, helping out with numerous community-based initiatives, providing screenings, cleaning, filling, and extractions - at no charge for the underserved.

I see myself as a particularly good candidate for a GPR program that is hospital based because I feel most comfortable and want very much to have the opportunity to continue to develop my expertise in the hospital environment. I look forward to gaining vast, advanced expertise in the performance of complex Endo procedures and implants in particular, rotating within multiple interdisciplinary healthcare teams in a hospital-based environment. I see this as ultimate preparation for a lifetime of practice in the future, perhaps within time as a dentist with my own practice.

I am grateful that I was able to come to the United States and build a new life far from the discrimination to which I was subjected in Egypt. I feel indebted to America for taking me in and providing me with the enormously beautiful opportunity of a state-of-the-art education in dentistry. The difficult circumstances to which I was subjected in Egypt helped me to grow up quickly and assume responsibility early on. Growing up in a small town in a rural area in Egypt, I also paid very close attention to the fact that we had only the most primitive and inadequate of dental services available, and even that was still outside the financial reach of a large part of the population. This served to inspire and motivate me to work very hard at my studies: because of my thirst for helping people in my community and making them confident about their smiles.

I will be finishing dental school next year, 2018, and I especially look forward to contributing to the diversity of your distinguished GPR Program as someone fully fluent in both Arabic and French as well as English. In the future, I keenly look forward to taking part in dental missions where I will be able to use my Arabic and/or French as well as English as an oral health professional committed to global dentistry.

I thank you for considering my application to your GPR Program.

This is why I want very much to give my professional life to the field of Human Resources and to have a very fulfilling professional life as a people person - interacting with workers and staff from around the globe as a Human Resources professional.

I will be graduating this summer, 2017, from the University of Minnesota with my undergraduate degree in Economics and a minor in Interdisciplinary Design. I could not be happier here at the University of Minnesota; thus, I would like very much to continue to study here on a graduate level and earn my Master’s Degree in Human Resources as well, with the support of the academic community that I have come to know and love. I feel strongly that it is here at the U of M where I can best excel as a graduate student. I hope to be selected to your competitive Master’s Program in HR because I am an excellent student with a proven track record of leadership, ever since I served as Vice President of the Student Association of Shandong University of Finance and Economics (September 2013—July 2014). I took the lead in my college in China with the organization of events and activities, especially personnel scheduling and coordination. I also learned and absorbed as much as I could about a variety of areas related to Finance, especially trade, labor, and firms.

Here at the U of M, I have also been busy with extra-curricular activities, running a Marathon for charity this past summer, serving as a volunteer at the Children’s Museum, and the highlight of my career so far, delivering a presentation at a conference concerned with “Refugees, Immigrants, and Ethnic Minorities.” I also had the great privilege of participating in the Germany Study Abroad Experience Program through the U of M (December 2016—January 2017). I have also learned a great deal and enhanced the fluency of my English language skills by working in food service for our academic community: the U of M Dining Service, Wise Owl Café, and Jamba Juice.

Human Resource Development is what most excites me, where my greatest passion lies. I especially enjoy the dynamic discussions taking place at the intersection of diversity issues and HR. I made a point to study HR issues while a student in Germany and I very much enjoyed this experience of being a witness to a country with such a diverse composition, rich with minority communities. I admire Germany for her generosity and her willingness to provide a safe haven for so many refugees fleeing war and devastation in other parts of the world. I am keen to learn as much as I can about refugee and immigrant issues globally speaking, with special reflection on my native China and the increasingly large sections of the planet in which it seeks to exert its influence.

I flew across the sea by myself to the University of Minnesota with no family or even friends waiting for me when I arrived, all alone. Since that time, I have come to feel very much like I have two homes, that the U of M is also my home base for the time being, to further prepare me for entrance into the global workplace as an HR professional. I thank you for considering my application.

As someone who aspires with all heart and soul to becoming the finest international real estate investment professional possible, I could not hold your organization in higher esteem. This is especially so because of the fully ‘global’ character or your organization, the way that you do business, and the planetary vision that you have for the future. I see real estate investment ventures that drive economic development across around the world as the best sign of the advancement of human civilization.

As a young Syrian man raised in Dubai, if given the opportunity to help shape the future of EMAAR as a sustainable, flagship operation that makes the most of global interconnectedness in the real estate investment world, I would add value primarily because of my progressive and creative agenda for the Middle East, the most conflictive part of our fragile institutional order. I see achieving some sort of working cease-fire if not a lasting peace in the Middle East to be very much in the interests of global real estate development generally speaking. I would like to leave my mark and be thought of as the young Syrian man with vision for tomorrow and vast hope that stability and prosperity can indeed be achieved against long odds and enormous obstacles.

I would like to see my selection to EMAAR’s team as complimentary to the presence of more than 82 other nationalities. I have been groomed since infancy to have big, international dreams. Born into a Syrian family and raised in the UAE, my father has been working there for the past 25 years and is now a partner and CEO of a major corporation based in Dubai - which is also a leading property developer. Our family owns property in Dubai as well as St. Kitts and Nevis where we are nationalized. My central professional goal is to become the most successful real estate professional possible, trained in the West and based in Dubai. I have no doubt that the reconstruction of Syria will be an integral part of professional contribution at some point down the road when the hostilities have ceased.

The last time I visited Syria was in 2010, well before the current civil war broke out. At that time, we still owned valuable real estate properties in Syria – most if not all of which have been destroyed. At some point in time when things are calm in Syria and rebuilding is underway, I want to be involved in reconstruction, driven most of all by a sense of patriotic and humanitarian calling to my family’s ancestral homeland. Emaar provides a truly world-class working environment where I can learn to be a leader from the leaders in our field. It would be a profound honor for me to make Emaar's goals and mission my own, serving alongside one of the most advanced and diverse workforces in the real estate world – together achieving great things, opening up new global frontiers in real estate development.

Now finishing up my BBA with a major focus on Finance at the University of Sharjah in the UAE, still 22, my father calls me a young idealist when I talk to him about my dreams of helping to rebuild Syria to something like its former glory. Nevertheless, I want to do what I can to help Syria as a real estate professional, especially years down the road if and when the opportunity should present itself. Operating out of Dubai, I want to help construct smart green buildings with sustainable design and architecture for the long term, for a new, peaceful and sustainable Middle East in particular.

Dubai’s openness to global capital, people and ideas make it an ideal laboratory for a student of real estate cycles and finance. I have learnt to analyze world events – oil prices, Fed policy, banking stress, currency shifts and to evaluate their impact on the UAE property market. I have worked as an Intern at Finance House PJCS, an investment bank based in Abu Dhabi, serving in the following departments: Operations, Corporate and Commercial Finance, Trade Finance and Treasury Investments & Securities.

In addition to consistently making the Dean's List, I have also distinguished myself as a Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters certified user. My final project for completion of my undergraduate studies includes an Asset Valuation for Aramex PSJC and an evaluation of whether it is an under or over-valued firm. I have also conducted a mall analysis from a retail marketing perspective of 3 different malls in the City of Dubai including the world’s biggest mall, The Dubai Mall. I won the Exceeding Expectations in Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Award for this project.

I was selected to be part of the American University of Sharjah delegation team to Harvard National Model United Nations conference organized by Harvard University. This helped me to developed a global, civic identity and a better understanding of international law as it related to commerce. This experience also enhanced my public speaking and diplomatic skills and helped me to think creatively on my feet while working towards the resolution of the issue being dealt with. Finally, I was also selected for a post-Brexit Educational Trip with my university to London in April 2017; we will be visiting the London Business School (LBS), at Cambridge University, Citibank, and other financial institutions and asset management firms.

I thank you for considering my application to EMAAR.

Pickering Fellowship because of my potential to contribute to the Foreign Service after completing the Master’s Degree in International Affairs with a focus on Conflict Resolution. An African man raised in Africa, I look forward to returning to Africa at some point in my career in a professional capacity.

I grew up in Ghana and have been in the USA now for 7 of my 29 years. An accountant with a Master’s Degree, I work for the Connecticut Department of Energy as an Accounts Examiner and also serve as an advocate for fair rates of electricity for citizens. I have worked as an Auditor with the New York State Department of Health and also the US Department of Health and Human Services. It is my current position with the Connecticut Department of Energy, however, that has proven to be the most formative for my career direction, since for some time now I have been reading widely in the area of sustainable and clean energy, on the one hand, and international politics and global affairs on the other. Frankly, I initially chose Accounting, instead of International Affairs, because as a black man and an immigrant from Africa I felt compelled by my circumstances to put a priority on economic security. Now that I have achieved that, I seek further growth and would like to now turn my attention to my innermost dreams and aspirations.

Being awarded the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship will enable me to pursue my foremost passion, public service and the geopolitics of clean energy, so that I will be able to make my maximum contribution to society after earning the Master’s Degree, working for a government organization promoting clean energy, especially in Africa. Thus, I am well poised to excel in a critical area of global public service, promoting clean energy in the most sustainable way possible, by fostering it on the world’s poorest continent.

My short term professional dream is to go back to school and earn my second Master’s Degree as a result of being awarded the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship. My long term professional goal is to work for a governmental agency such as the UN or the US Department of State dealing with energy policies around the world, creating equitable trade deals and also helping to create a conflict free world – to the extent to which it is possible to do so. Competition for energy sources has resulted in great bloodshed world-wide and this is one of the reasons that I am so pleased with the extensive experience that I have acquired in the energy sector, because it has served to prepare me to realize my central professional dream of having something of great value to offer to the Foreign Service community. For me, the Foreign Service is a lifelong calling resulting from a profound search of my soul. Working as a professional Auditor has been a fulfilling career so far, but I crave more, especially international engagement.

My father, my principal hero and personal role model, worked for the World Health Organization and this helped me to develop a global perspective and identity early on. Now a US citizen, in addition to 9 years in our native Ghana, I lived in the Republic of the Congo for 5 years and Zimbabwe for 1 year. I have also spent significant amounts of time in Zambia, Egypt, Turkey, Finland, England, Cyprus, Guatemala and Mexico. In addition to our native Akan and English, I am also fluent in French and learning Spanish.

My principle interests lie in energy policy, global electricity markets, energy deals, politics of access to water and issues of sustainability. Since Africa is the land of my birth, I have stayed abreast for some time now with energy issues in the Developing World – especially Africa. Ultimately, I would like to help African companies achieve energy self-sufficiency. My other, closely related, interest is conflict resolution. I witnessed a little bit of the Congo war first hand in the 90’s and this experience has left me hungry to study ways in which the UN Security Council might be able to more successfully intervene to prevent civil war and genocide. I look forward to an intense immersion experience in the history of U.S Diplomacy in Africa and the Middle East, in particular, and the role of the United Nations in conflict resolution and clean energy promotion.

I thank you for considering my application.

tag:masterspersonalstatement.com,2018-07-26:/entries/1703727Masters Communications Management, Taiwanese2018-07-26T08:52:00-07:002019-01-07T08:26:58-08:00
My second internship, in particular, was influential in the development of my professional vision and my hope to earn the Master’s Degree in Communications Management at UXX because it was in the area of market influence, a relatively new trend in the communication world and the area in which I think I will be inspired to make my fullest contribution to our field. My experience in that position will also help to provide me with insightful things to contribute to class discussion as a graduate student.

As a result of completing two internships while an undergraduate student, I now more fully realize and appreciate the way in which communications are the glue that holds the business world together and makes commerce possible. For this reason, as a business professional in training, I am extremely highly motivated to focus my graduate studies in the area of Communications. Your MS Program in Communication Management at XXXX University is my first choice for graduate study because of the uniqueness and sheer excellence of your program. Completing your program will provide me with the ultimate preparation for working on the international level as a Communications specialist in the business world. I keenly look forward to making new friends from all over the world who also eat sleep and breathe international business operations like I do. In addition to living in Los Angeles, I have also gotten to know to some extent Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and China, as well Italy, Sweden, and France. Thus, I am especially appreciative of the fact that UXX has one of the most diverse student populations of any university in the USA.

I look forward to developing a skill set as a graduate student at the XXXX School that builds upon and helps me to continue to cultivate the abilities that I have acquired as both as a student and a professional. I already have considerable knowledge and experience related to communications through my studies of media and especially marketing and I am fully confident that this foundation will enable me to hit the ground running at UXX and excel in your program from the very beginning. This is especially true with respect to the advancement of new communication technologies, the area in which I spend most of my free time.

At the XXXX School, I will enhance my knowledge in the field of marketing which will prepare me to make significant contributions to our fast-changing marketing world. Communication Management provides a focus on marketing and sales, publicity and promotions, market research and management, social marketing, advertising, public relations, community affairs and communication campaigns, all central to my focus on Marketing Management.

I have always pictured myself working in the field of marketing. My internship experience in this area further fueled my great passion and eagerness to engage with this industry as a lifelong endeavor. I love the vast breadth of the field of marketing and its inherently interdisciplinary character. At some point, hopefully as a student in your program, I will develop a special focus on a particular industry – perhaps the beauty industry, another of my central interests on personal as well as professional levels. At some point, I will probably return to my native Taiwan to establish a permanent home and perhaps have a family. First, however, I look forward to at least several more years of professional travel and experience as a marketing and communications specialist working for a US-based corporation. Within time, I hope to serve as a marketing coordinator or director for a big international company with interests in Chinese markets. My ideal job would be to serve in this position for a company such as Sephora or MAC Cosmetics, where I could also exercise my passion and creativity in the field of beauty enhancement because I think that I have special potential for excellence in this area.

My desire to pursue a graduate degree in Communication Management at USC Annenberg is very much grounded in my undergraduate studies towards my first degree in my native Taiwan, before coming to America. First, I earned my high school degree in Taiwan and graduated in first place among those students in the science track. Always excelling at everything having to do with science and numbers, I was accepted to and completed one year of study in Information Management at Sun Yat-sen National University - among the top ten in Taiwan - before I decided to come to America to earn my college degree. After studying for one year at a smaller school, I successfully transferred to UXX.

Currently an undergraduate student majoring in Communications at the Annenberg School, I have become well aware of how our department provides the finest, state-of-the-art resources for students in the area of Communications. I love USC and hope very much to continue to study here at the graduate level, bolstered and supported by my network of friends and colleagues who are also helping me to master various aspects of communications. I have the utmost respect for the faculty and hope to have the opportunity to continue to learn from the especially talented and informed professors at the Annenberg School.

As an international student originally from Taiwan, I forward to continuing to enjoy the great intercultural diversity of UXX, particularly since studies in diversity are of such foundational importance to the exercise of creativity in communications today. I want very much to devote my professional life to Communication Management and UXX, my American home to date, has the finest Master’s Program in the world. My capacity to contribute to the UXX community is established by the fact that I served as the Marketing Director of the Taiwanese Student Association for 2 years. During the time, I was in charge of searching for sponsors for numerous events, helping with event organization and generating ideas for promotional campaigns. Both of my internships have helped to prepare me for your program since they both entailed doing a lot of industry-related research and analysis, case study projects that required a lot of creativity. They also helped to refine my writing skills and ability to think critically about research in communication.

Your program at UXX is especially dynamic and I love the way that your curriculum is tied to real-world applications. Your program is ideal in terms of preparing me for maximum participation in the fast- and ever-changing media/marketing world. Given my academic background and extensive experience crafting messages as a result of my internship experiences, I feel strongly that I have a lot to give to UXX as a graduate student.

Having grown up in Taiwan, coming to the United States to finish my undergraduate degree, I have been able to develop cross-cultural perspectives, especially concerning media and communications, that entail a set of values and skills that will enable me to make a unique contribution to our field. I look forward to continuing to learn from my classmates who come from all over the world and from many different backgrounds as I know this is the best way to broaden my own horizons and learn to think more creatively.

I thank you for considering my application to the XXXX School.

While I was elated, it turned out to be disastrous timing. My pregnancy had been very complicated and I began dental school fearing that I was going to lose my baby. I had previously suffered a miscarriage and so much rode on this pregnancy that the stress levels during my first two months studying at XXXX International Dentist Program were enormous.

My daughter was born quite ill and the fear of losing her continued during her first two months of life. My mother-in-law, who was helping me with my baby, unexpectedly fractured her arm after only a few weeks after I began dental school, just when I needed her the most because my new-born was still quite ill. Stress-related complications became so acute that my judgment became clouded and I became disoriented, sleepless, crying, a total mess of anxiety, all while struggling day and night to care for my baby. At this moment, unaware that all I needed to do was to tell my faculty advisor that I needed to take the first semester off, out of desperation to meet a deadline, I submitted research work that was not entirely my own and was expelled from the ID Program at XXXX - my appeal was denied.

Since this incident, I have engaged in much self-reflection. Why did this happen? What I was thinking back then? I have worked on handling pressure and unexpected challenges and learning how to time manage in more mature ways, attending counseling sessions and doing meditation. I learned that my biggest shortcoming was my failure to discuss my problems with others; instead, keeping them bottled up inside. My daughter is getting bigger and more independent day by day, breastfeeding is drawing to a close and I hunger deep in my heart for a return to full time dentistry, the full pursuit of my profession, my life. If accepted to your DDS for International Dentists Program, I intend to leave my daughter with my mother in India so that I will be able to focus exclusively on my studies in dentistry..

I envision having a professional engagement with dentistry for the rest of my life, both here in the USA as well as back home in India, with the latter efforts being of a voluntary nature. I hope to largely fund and manage a practice geared towards the underserved in India, based on my success here in the USA, where I also look forward to decades in private practice, flying back and forth; I love to fly. There is no insurance system for dental care in India and dental treatment is simply unaffordable for roughly half the population. When I am an older woman, I also look forward to teaching dentistry in India.

I have long had a fascination with and profound concern for homeless people. I would hug and kiss them as a little girl sometimes, just finding them alone on the street. Now, as a dentist, I realize that my childhood dream of finding them a place to live, to sleep, is overshadowed still by the joy that I feel providing them with oral health care. If one has a toothache, where one sleeps is of secondary importance. My city, Punjab, back in India, has enormous problems with drug addicted youth, in particular, who live on the street – most of them children and adolescents. I day dream about putting my DDS to work on their behalf if I am granted the exception for which I plead and given another chance to prove myself in a DDS program for international dentists.

I have served my community as an oral health professional for more than five years, mostly in India but also here in the USA working as a dental assistant for long periods of time at several dental clinics. I have helped to effectively treat a broad variety of patients and I have also had a share in treatment planning and diagnosis. I especially look forward to research in dental materials, always with an eye towards cost and the development of materials that make dental care more affordable.

I always wanted to do something in my life which moves people, leaving a long-lasting and highly positive impact on their lives. I was perhaps most moved as a child when I got my own teeth fixed and the result was my own smile – hitherto my biggest insecurity. Thus, in search of a noble profession with unsurpassed human fulfillment, dentistry was for me a most natural choice.

I learned quickly and discovered that healthy and clear communication between a patient and dentist is the central key to successful treatment. Over the course of five years, I passionately provided my sincere services to the community, and was overwhelmed with the gratitude I received from those whom I served.

I love dancing, cooking, and travelling. I was basketball team captain at my high school and I am good at acting. Along with my team, we won first place in an acting competition with a play dealing with female fetocide. As a female, a woman dentist, I will always be especially sensitive to the special oral health challenges of underserved women in my community, as well as the underserved generally speaking.

I thank you for considering my application.

Thus, as a Chinese man born and raised in China, my interest in and passion for research in the area of Materials Science has been born from and sustained by the social and environmental issues and challenges facing my country and people, especially those who live in urban areas. I could not be more excited by the fact that developments in the field of Material Science have the potential to greatly improve the quality of life not only of the Chinese, but peoples worldwide.

A hard worker and devoted student soon to be finishing my BS in Chemistry at XXXX University with a 3.8 GPA, I will also finish with a minor in history as a result of my wide ranging intellectual interests that include history and philosophy as well as math and the physical sciences. Most of all, however, it is in the field of Material Science that I seek to make my professional mark in life and my optimal contribution to the advancement of humanity. I enjoy helping people and see material science as the area where I can make the most important improvements to people’s lives on the largest scale. In addition to excelling academically, I have also volunteered my time for charitable activities, serving, for example, as an accountant and helping to organize a benefit for leukemia and lymphoma patients as well as a host of smaller events, in addition to serving as a volunteer teacher at Merit Badge University events at XXXX University. When I see the eyes of others fill with gratefulness, this brings me enormous pleasure.

In the winter of 2013, I went back to Shanghai for a visit, the first time that I had returned for winter break since arriving in the USA. During the flight, I imagined how happy I would be when the plane landed and I kept thinking about what I would say to my parents when I saw them. It was three o’clock in the afternoon, however, and the sky was completely yellow. I could barely see the sun shimmering. It turned out that the first words I said to my parents were: “What’s wrong with Shanghai? The city looks doomed.” Looking at the yellow and brownish grey fog, my Mom sighed, “the pollution is very serious this winter.” I couldn't sleep that night. I had been living in Shanghai for a decade before leaving for America. I knew there had been pollution for a long time but these days it is making many people physically sick and killing some of them. The sky is never clear; no stars twinkle at night.

So, increasingly, as my studies progressed, I have paid more and more attention to environmental issues and the hope that is represented by research in Material Science. As I see it, if Shanghai is to solve its environmental problems, gas-burning cars need to be replaced by electric vehicles. For this reason, Li-ion batteries rapidly took center stage in my world because they can efficiently store energy harvested from wind, tide and other environmental friendly sources. The reason that most cars still burn gas is that Li-ion batteries have limitations such as high cost, unstable quality and limited energy storage volume. Dr. XXXX’s research at XXXX focuses on improving the qualities and reducing the cost of Li-ion batteries; thus, I am especially looking forward to learning as much as I can from Dr. XXXX. I want to make the sky blue again.

XXXX’s Doctoral Program in MSE is my first choice for graduate school because I see it as the best preparation for a lifetime of struggle to solve the enormous environmental problems faced by big cities in China. To achieve my goal, I want to learn more about Li-ion batteries and participate in research in this field. GT’s MSE program has one of the most advanced research groups in this field. I have visited Georgia Tech several times for seminars and poster sessions. The strong academic atmosphere of GT made me feel right at home and a good fit with your program and the research interests of your faculty and graduate students.

I offer great passion, determination, patience and advanced research skills as an applicant to your program. The great diversity of issues and opportunities in the field of Material Science has never and never will cease to fascinate me. I am driven by the fact that I know how desperately my country is waiting for people like me to solve the mammoth environmental protection and clean up problems that we face, along with the rest of the world. I have been cultivating a highly practiced patience for the past three years working long hours in organic chemistry labs, completing hundreds of synthesis and column chromatography experiments. Most of the time, the results were less than satisfying and I had to run the procedure again, which sometimes took days and even weeks. Had I not been patient, I would have abandoned chemistry a long time ago. In addition to my class work, I also have two years experience working in a professor's lab. Alongside organic synthesis and column chromatography, I am also well studied with respect to NMR spectroscophy and a variety of other techniques used in organic chemistry; and I have experience with a variety of software programs such as R, Mathematica and Matlab.

I hope to be remembered at XXXX as the Chinese man who talked incessantly about Li-ion batteries and the great promise that they hold for saving our planetary home. I adapt to new environments very quickly and have experience working in Japanese as well as American laboratories since I earned a scholarship to study in Japan. Just as in the USA, I adapted quickly in Japan to the new culture and language, bocaming good friends with my Japanese colleagues. I believe that this adaptability will also serve me well in the GT MSE Program. Finally, I have interned at General Electric, China with the job title of System Engineer Assistant, where I learned a great deal about what engineers do and the types of challenges that they face.

The greatest contribution that I will be able to make to society is to design new materials that are as sturdy as ABS plastic – the production of which requires petroleum - but much less harmful to the environment. In this way, I hope to contribute to the advancement of cleaner, safer, architecture, toy production, car making, etc. I want to help develop new generations of lithium batteries and organic semiconductors, practical and useful materials with a broad range of applications. I look forward to becoming a senior engineer or project manager, increasingly assuming leadership roles in industry. My ideal job would be serving as the Director of Research for a firm such as the LEGO Company.

I will graduate with my degree in Chemistry from XXXX University this coming May, 2017; and I hope to begin your graduate program that summer following my graduation. My Dad earned a Fulbright scholarship and went to Duke University as an exchange scholar. I went there with him and lived in the US for one full year before starting my classes at the University in 2013. I am always grateful for this head start in English, a full year of immersion before starting college, as it has helped to propel me to a level of fluency in English that is rare among Chinese students in America. I also continue to cultivate my Japanese although I am still at an elementary level. Badminton, basketball, carting racing, finance, swimming, cooking, trying new restaurants, and reading British parliamentary debates, among other thin,s help to round out my day and keep me sharp as a scientist.

My goal in pursuing a Master’s degree at XXU is to acquire the high-level skills and knowledge which will enable me to assist in providing effective solutions to the problems related to the feeding of those living in the less developed economies especially in Africa. My long term career goal is to lead research projects, in a private company or NGO, that are aimed at the provision of reliable, affordable and nutritious foods to the economically deprived.

I am a fully bicultural Kenyan-American and find that the easy availability of a very wide variety of high quality, long life food is taken for granted by many in the ‘first world countries’ but having been raised in Kenya, I have witnessed the difficulties arising in less advanced economies. Dependence on a narrow range of foodstuffs that often spoil very quickly and irregularity of quality and supply are examples of the many reasons that people suffer food insecurity in Africa. From my earliest years, I intended to ‘make a difference’ rather than just ‘make a living’ and when I saw the abundance here in the US and contrasted this situation with that in Kenya, I resolved to study Food Science and use the knowledge acquired to make a difference for the benefit of those living with food insecurity primarily in Africa but also in developed food economies.

I have worked in a variety of settings and in various roles and this experience, along with my undergraduate studies, provide an excellent basis for me to be able to ‘add value’ to the program and to benefit from it. I look forward to sharing the fruits of my own life, academic and work experience and to profit from the experiences of my fellow students.

The program is my first choice because I am aware that the Institute of Food Technologists has recognized the program as being the premier one in the US. Several of my colleagues are currently enrolled and recommend the program as highly challenging but providing a very supportive academic environment and research opportunities and as one being at the ‘cutting edge’ of work in this field. The online program will also enable me to pursue my employment without interruption and to apply what I learn to my day to day work.

My general area of interest is Food Chemistry because it is an area in which I feel that opportunities to meet my overall goals can be met. Specifically, I would like to develop my understanding of the relationship between the structure of food molecules and their functional properties, in order to improve nutritional aspect of foods. I hope that it might be possible to assist in a related research project within the program.

I am aware that research, and especially research leadership, calls for specific and uncommon characteristics such as determination, patience, an ability to approach problems with creativity and originality, the ability to communicate innovative ideas with precision and high level planning skills. I believe that I have demonstrated these characteristics in my work and research to date and intend to develop them to the very best of my potential through my participation in the program and present and future work.

To summarize, I consider myself to be a highly motivated, well qualified applicant who will bring useful insights to the program. I can assure the reader of enthusiastic and diligent participation in the program, if selected, and a determination to excel rather than to merely succeed.

Thank you for considering my application.

Also provide details including proposed dates and locations of any proposed fieldwork and/or internships.

A highly professional and very hard working accounting consultant in the Philippines, I began working shortly after my graduation. Since September of 2015, I have been working long hours in business process control and planning and budgeting. My present dream is to have the opportunity to earn a Master’s Degree in International Business in Australia so that I can devote my life to building bridges in business between the Philippines and Australia by making this commerce safer and subsequently more profitable.

I grew up in the rural part of my country so I’ve always appreciated the simplicity of life. As I entered the corporate world, I began to see the country’s enormous economic growth potential. While I am very proud to be a woman from the Philippines, frankly, I am ashamed of some aspects of my country, most particularly the endemic corruption, which is invasive, predatory, and taints every aspect of our social, political, and especially economic lives – primarily the root of our country’s paradox of plenty. If I were to be awarded the Endeavor Scholarship and have the opportunity to earn my Master’s Degree in Australia, I would be highly inspired and empowered to turn my attention to cleaning things up in my country, as an accounting professional on the cutting edge of social and economic justice, in collaboration with a broad variety of sectors, legal, law enforcement, and progressive initiatives from the business world in particular.

I wish to attend XXXX University of Technology (XXXX) Business School not only for its Triple Crown accreditation, but also due to its unparalleled commitment of forging partnerships with industry. I want to grow on a personal level and become a global citizen of the world, not just the Philippines, and Australia would be the optimal springboard to a global career.

Please provide details of how your proposed programme would further your academic and/or professional career.

I am working for the XXXX Company which funded my college education and helped my parents with our family's financial burden. But, for the longest time, in my heart, I’ve always hoped to be a teacher. This opportunity to study in a collaborative setting with a diverse student body from all over the world would provide me with the experience that I need to blossom into a fully international business professional and prepare me as well for a teaching career here in the Philippines, training new generations of students in the area of professional ethics and the importance of social responsibility in the business world of today.

My central dream for the near future is to contribute to the development of a partnership with XXXX Business School in launching a business summit in the Philippines that would be offered to students enrolled in business courses in the Philippines, providing them with an opportunity to further develop their skills through live discussions and interaction with other students as well as renowned business leaders from different sectors and industries. I plan to invite professors from XXXX Business School to be guest presenters, leading to a partnership that would greatly increasing the prominence and appeal of XXXX in the Philippines.

Please provide details of how your proposed programme will benefit Australia and your potential to foster ongoing collaboration and cooperation with your home and host country/region.

Earning my Master’s Degree in International Business at XXXX will make me extremely competitive on the job market, in academic and business worlds, for me two sides of the same coin.

I personally chose to study in Australia because it will bring to life a place which I've always heard about from my dad, who was a recipient of an Australian government scholarship to complete his Doctorate in Veterinary Science; along with listening to stories about the educational excellence and innovative, creative culture of Australia.

I seek to serve my community, my society, and the world. I hope to enrich lives and communicate my knowledge with passion to inspire generations that will follow me in academic and business worlds, building increasingly strong ties with our close neighbour and friend Australia. In particular, I look forward to cultivating a partnership between my alma mater, the University of XXXX, and XXXX Business School. I look forward to sharing the many things of great value that I learn at XXXX with Filipino entrepreneurs for decades to come, helping our economy to grow through integration in an increasingly global world, alongside Australia, learning together how to best exploit opportunities in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.

Please explain how receiving an Endeavour scholarship or fellowship would make a difference to your personal life.

My father was and always will be the most important role model in my life. My children will grow up listening to stories about their grandfather. Although born with a heart disease that he suffered from throughout his life, he never failed to inspire people around him to achieve their dreams - big, small, imaginable and even improbable. I could spend all day listening to his former students, how happy they were during my dad's lectures. He was a state university professor of Veterinary Medicine. In his spare time, he'd educate the local farmers for free. He found so much joy in teaching and helping.

Although it was hard for him to lift heavy objects because of his condition, he was a consistent volunteer in Gawad Kalinga - a nonprofit organization that builds homes for the homeless - one of our favorite things to do with the family during the summer. My father passed away 16 days before I graduated from college. For me, the greatest personal honor, if I were to be awarded an Endeavor Scholarship, would be to honor him. Showing my father how much I love him doesn't stop with his death, it only intensifies.

However, I have met several successful Saudi businesswomen whom I have admired and have a strong desire to emulate them by making my own mark in a masculine dominated business environment. I wish to acquire the skills and knowledge to enable me emulate my ‘heroines’ and believe that your MBA program will be an excellent means of doing so. My special interest is in the leisure industry. I hope to join a company in that sector at a senior level and, ultimately, to found such a business in Saudi Arabia.

My government is actively seeking to encourage the founding of businesses in new sectors as it seeks to curtail its reliance on the oil industry. It is my intention to be one of the innovators who will help to successfully diversify our economy, make a success of life and provide the same opportunity to others while providing joyful experiences to my consumers. The Government of Saudi Arabia created a body called the General Authority for Entertainment in May 2016 to encourage businesses in that sector which is regarded as being one of those which is important to the development of the national economy.

I hold a B.S in Accounting with GPA 3.44 and am currently engaged as an intern in accounting duties. This background has provided me with an excellent knowledge base to begin the study of business. I admit that my GRE was not ‘stellar’ but I was faced with unexpected and extreme time constraints. The score does not reflect my intelligence, diligence or my academic potential and in view of the very limited study time involved, I believe the result to be excellent.

Since my early teens, I have sought leadership and team building experience in seeking and obtaining various offices in school and college clubs and societies. I have a wide variety of interests and hobbies, which includes the informal study of psychology, this provides useful insights generally and will, I believe, be of great use to me in a future career in the world of business.

I am always ready to ‘take charge’ in difficult situations and to execute considered but decisive action. I am a confident and effective communicator who understands that listening is as important as talking and who is sensitive to non-verbal signals from others. I get on easily with others and enjoy collaboration to achieve a common goal.

I am fairly well travelled. I enjoy learning about new cultures and in sharing knowledge of my own. I am a native speaker of Arabic and am fully fluent and proficient in English.

I have carefully considered the commitment that will be required of me in the program and am eager to study alongside equally ambitious and intelligent students in the challenging and supportive environment that I am confident will be provided. It is my intention to excel rather than just succeed and will apply myself enthusiastically and diligently to the program.

tag:masterspersonalstatement.com,2018-02-03:/entries/1651352MSC Clinical Microbiology, London, Turkish2018-02-03T04:41:00-08:002019-01-07T07:08:18-08:00
I hold an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s Degree in Toxicology from my native Turkey and I have now been living in London for more than a year. My central interest is public health from a chemical perspective – Clinical Microbiology.

I have been falling very much in love this past year with London and its vast resources, the city itself, the West; especially academia. I see your MSc Programme in Clinical Microbiology at XXXX University’s London School of XXXX as the optimal springboard upon which to grow professionally as an international solider against contagious disease, especially insofar as it relates to Turkey.

Of course, given the number of Turkish people living in Europe and the constant traffic between Turkey and Europe - especially these days in the form of political refugees - there is much work to be done with respect to safeguarding public health in Europe as well as Turkey. I crave responsibility and I think that by the time that I have completed your rigorous Master’s Program, I will be in a position to make important contributions in the area of Clinical Microbiology that will continue for my lifetime and beyond.

I could not be happier with my decision to dedicate my life to the study of issues in Clinical Microbiology. I became fully immersed in and quite addicted to this area of study as a Master’s student in the area of Microbiology, writing my thesis on the subject of salmonella typhimurium organisms. In fact, I look forward to the fullest of all possible lifetimes of ongoing study about and publication concerning the development of antibiotic resistance against contagious disease. This is what I find myself reading about most frequently in the literature, almost on a daily basis.

Most recently, I have become alarmed by the fact that typhoid, measles, and poliomyelitis have been reported in Turkey - for the first time in almost 40 years – something which is generally attributed to the swelling numbers of refugees. This represents an enormous threat, particularly to children who are highly vulnerable to contagion at school. All of this is helping to drive anti-refugee sentiment in Turkey, naturally, when one’s children are threatened with extinction. Nevertheless, I am not myself anti-refugee; in fact, I am proud of my country for accepting so many refugees and being willing to serve as the primary base of operations for their care, even if it did so largely because it had little-to-no other choice. What I want to do is fight the disease and contagion, keeping everyone safe, including the refugees, whoever the carriers might be.

Your Clinical Microbiology MSc Programme at XXXX is for me the ideal programme to drive my career forward as a soldier in the cause of public health, preparing me to assume increasing levels of responsibility in the struggle against contagious disease. I am very much looking forward, in particular, to studying under Professor XXXX. I find Professor XXXX’s research in the area of infectious disease and microbiology to be enormously inspiring. Microbiology is the area that I know best and the field that generates the greatest of passions deep within me. I become glued to my research and stay with it like a bulldog that does not let go until the opponent is vanquished. I look forward to a long and very prosperous lifetime fully immersed in the study of antimicronial resistance and how infectious diseases are best diagnosed and treated.

I appreciate very much the fact that your program at XXXX University is one of the leading universities in the UK and especially famous for its success in the Medical Sciences. Walking hand in hand with the unsurpassed quality of your curriculum and faculty is the fact that graduates of your university have among the very highest rates of employability.

I am more comfortable and happy in the laboratory than anywhere else. I look forward to serving as a research assistant as well as conducting my own research to the extent to which I have the opportunity to do so. I adore teamwork and look forward to making valuable contributions to team efforts.

As a Master’s student I wrote my thesis on mutagenic-carcinogenic issues. The battle against cancer is also a central part of a global struggle that I see as my own, but I do not wish to focus exclusively in that area; rather, I seek to understand cancer as one piece of a larger puzzle.

I look forward to achieving a vast enhancement of the great deal that I already know about Fundamental and Industrial Microbiology, Disease Control, Cancer Research, and most of all Clinical Microbiology so as to have the optimal springboard for launching me on the way to my maximum contribution to human wellbeing through the creation of new treatments for a variety of different diseases.

I thank you for consideration of my application.

tag:masterspersonalstatement.com,2018-01-20:/entries/1649648Master's Degree Occupational Therapy, Pakistani2018-01-20T04:36:00-08:002019-01-07T06:51:18-08:00
I was awarded a B.Sc. (Occupational Therapy) by the School of Occupational Therapy of the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre, Karachi Pakistan in 2000. I graduated top of my class. The School and its curriculum are approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. I have also been given credit feedback, with an aggregate GPA score of 3.88, by the accrediting agency, Global Credential Evaluators which is based in the United States.

Having graduated, I worked as a Registered Occupational Therapist for the Institute of Behavioural Psychology, Karachi, an internationally recognized organization which provides educational, therapeutic and psychological services for children, young people and adults and various corporate services.

During my five year service with the Institute, I worked with adults with upper limb injuries and physical dysfunction and disabilities following strokes. I also worked with children suffering a wide variety of issues such as developmental delays, learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities, attention and behavioural problems, deficits in sensory processing and modulation and verbal and non-verbal communication problems. I found great satisfaction in this work in which I felt that I was making the beneficial difference to clients’ lives that I had sought to make when choosing my career path. I shared the joy of clients when they made, perhaps slow, but solid progress towards their goals. As well as developing therapeutic skills and knowledge, my natural characteristics of patience and empathy were further developed. I also learned the importance of formulating realistic but challenging care plans involving other professionals in a multi-disciplinary approach. I enthusiastically participated in many courses, classes, workshops and seminars to augment my professional knowledge and skills during this period and also assisted in the supervision and training of new therapists in the later part of my service.

My second job was as a school therapist assisting underachieving students at all grades by identifying and treating underlying problems such as learning difficulties, developmental delays, fine motor difficulties and behavioural problems. I collaborated with other professionals such as special education teachers, psychologists, psychiatrists and resource teachers and liaised with family members to remove or moderate learning barriers and promote the inclusion of students into the general educational environment. I also conducted a number of workshops to educate teachers and family members about my role and the ways in which they could assist in achieving our common goals and assisted in the development of individual educational plans working closely with teaching staff.

During my career, I have at various times served as a program administrator with supervisory responsibilities for a team of rehabilitation professionals such as occupational therapists, rehabilitation aides and students in training. I was recognized as being an effective and approachable teacher and leader which roles I thoroughly enjoyed. I took great pleasure in seeing subordinates and students reach challenging goals and sought to share my professional passion.

Since moving to the US, in 2009, I have sought to take up the career I love but there have been multiple obstacles to this strongly held desire. My degree does not meet entry-level requirement for the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy. I was advised to complete a bachelor degree and then seek admission to an entry level Master’s program. However, I was unable to find a bachelor program and I thought that I may have to abandon my goal, my family obligations also took precedence at that time and I put the matter ‘on hold’. However, I took great care to ensure that I kept abreast of developments in the profession by reading professional journals and books. A few of the titles I studied were: ‘Occupational Therapy and Mental Health’ by Cantan Brown, ‘Occupational Therapy in the Promotion of Health and Wellness’ by Marjorie E. Scaffa and ‘Applied Theories in Occupational Therapy, a Practical Approach’ by Rusanna Tufano and Marli Cole.

My family matured and I decided to make every effort to return to the profession and, if possible, at a senior level. I was delighted to discover the program that you offer which will enable me to update and enhance my knowledge and skills on-line and to return to the practice of the profession that I love and in which I felt so capable and satisfied. It will also satisfy my second goal which is to re-join the profession at a senior level so that my professional experience and supervisory and training experience can be applied.

My favored electives are: Community Development for OT, Aging and Continuing Care, Measuring Health Outcomes and Chronic Condition Management. I am very aware that there is a growing need for the provision of OT services to an aging population. This need is rapidly increasing presenting particular challenges to most areas of health service provision, and not least in OT which has the potential to play a very significant role in assisting the aged to live independent and happy lives. I come from a culture in which the aged are treated with particular respect and affection, which may not always be true in western cultures. I enjoy the company of the aged and would be very keen to be part of the solution to the accelerating need to provide specialist services to them.

For my Practicum experience, I would seek to assist an organization providing healthcare to the aged who live at home to enable them to do so for as long as possible by seeking inter-disciplinary solutions to known problems and, by careful information gathering from elderly themselves about their OT-linked needs and how they might be met. It is clear that the profession faces a situation where demand will far outstrip supply for services. To face this situation, it will be necessary to provide innovative solutions and I am interested in the possible development of ‘one to one’ or small group, on-line therapeutic advice, demonstrations and discussions to enable an element of self-treatment by the patient, or provision by a family member.

I wish to point out that my studies would be fully self-funded and that I am wholly encouraged and supported by my husband in submitting this application. I have carefully considered the demands that on-line studies will make and I am confident that I have the self-discipline, commitment, the intelligence and the experience to excel rather than merely succeed in the program and in my future career. Thank you for considering my application.

My entire working life of 18 years and the academic choices that I made at college both relate to my interest in effective communication, a subject of enormous importance in every sphere and in the life of every individual and a source of endless fascination to me.

My work in marketing has exposed me to almost every facet of this area of work and in a variety of professional environments. To provide just a few examples of my past work and its breadth: I have worked as a marketing brand manager during which time I led the management of new product launches and worked with one of the most successful advertising agencies, XXXX of Chicago, in a successful launch. I have worked in PR which exposed me to working with direct media outlets. I succeeded in attracting new media coverage (Channel 4) for large fundraising events undertaken by a non-profit organization (AbilityFirst) for whom I worked, this resulted in a significant increase in funding for programs to assist disabled children and adults of which I am very proud.

I am currently engaged in the promotion of my employer’s brand in the world of digital media as a Marketing Manager and am enjoying all the many challenges that this work provides. I manage a substantial marketing budget for 6 divisions within the organization. I also manage the digital and print campaigns which have been very successful in increasing market share as well as the publicity relating to the launch of new lines. I manage the trade show marketing for one division which is extremely useful in that it provides direct exposure to customers, potential customers and their opinions and feedback. I am also responsible for direct brand management, PR, advertising, sales and collateral and corporate positioning as well as managing lead assignment in the CRM database system.

I am confident that the breadth and variety of work that I have undertaken to date (admittedly in a fairly limited sphere) together with the successes that I have achieved will certainly enable me to ‘add value’ to the program. I have also learned much from the occasional frustrations and failures that have happened along the way, which I have always carefully analyzed in order to draw appropriate lessons. I can certainly provide one or two useful lessons in ‘what not to do’ or ‘how not to do it’. I am especially interested in learning from communication specialists outside the world of marketing to gain the benefits of their insights and experiences that might be applied in my work and hopefully to provide similar benefits to them.

I am interested in pursuing this degree because I am confident that it will assist me in reaching my career objective of becoming a Marketing Director. I am aware that corporate communications is an increasingly important element in business strategy and that demand for well qualified specialists is growing. However this is not the only reason for this application, I am genuinely fascinated by a subject which combines fact based science with the art of subtle interpretive, intuitive and critical thinking skills, all of which I seek to develop. I wish to become a ‘well rounded’ and educated communications expert and to be as knowledgeable and adept in this vital area of study and work as possible. I see the program as the next logical step in achieving both professional and personal goals. The fact that the specialty is constantly advancing and is a topic about which we can never know everything also engages and retains my interest.

The XXX program is of particular interest because of the diverse backgrounds and skills of a prestigious faculty and the success of its graduates. I also wish to benefit from the challenging but supportive learning environment which the program is reputed to provide. I am seeking a curriculum that is strategic in emphasis and comprehensive in scope and recognize that this is what the program provides. I am particularly attracted by the program’s recognition of the importance of emerging media in the world of business communications and of effective delegation. I consider the curriculum to be an ‘ideal fit’ to enable me to reach my goal of directing overall marketing strategy for my company.

I would not be submitting this application had I not very carefully considered the significant commitment of time and effort that will be required of me, especially as I shall be continuing to pursue my career throughout its duration. I can provide a firm assurance that I will participate in the program with enthusiasm and diligence and will seek to excel within it rather than merely succeed in order to add further luster to its prestigious reputation.

I should like to add that I am bilingual in Spanish and English and speak a little Cantonese which I learned while working with a Chinese based company. I have happily studied, worked and socialized with people of many ethnic and social backgrounds and enjoy learning about other cultures. I frequently travel to Mexico and have also visited China and Europe for social and professional purposes. I am a confident and friendly person blessed with a well-developed sense of humor. I am an animal lover and have been active in volunteer work related to animal fostering, placement and in educating low income families in the importance of spaying and neutering of their pets, especially among low income Spanish speaking communities. It is my intention to apply my skills and knowledge for the benefit of animal charities in the future and hope that the program will enable me to be more effective in these voluntary activities as well as in my work.

Thank you for considering my application.

I have always had a special passion for both Mathematics and Business, as a child, adolescent, and now a young adult. The principal reason for this is the enormous influence that my father has had over my life and its direction. My father is a kind, loving, energetic man who has always taken great delight in supporting his family and giving his all to our future economic security. I could not have been more pleased and convinced that I was making the right decision in my freshman year of college when I declared myself a business major, building upon and putting to good use my first academic love, Mathematics.

I love Mathematics primarily because of its applications for daily life, making a positive impact on the economy, driving development, and making the world a better place to live for everyone. These past several years as a college student I have been completely devoted to my studies and professional opportunities, learning to become a leader, an innovator, and an entrepreneur. XXXX is my first choice for graduate study because of my profound admiration for the way that you incorporate the study of Math directly into the study of business. I feel strongly that I am an excellent candidate for your program because of my solid academic background in data analysis, statistics, enterprise finance, marketing, and other closely related areas. Perhaps most importantly, my skill and foundation in Mathematics is my greatest and most developed personal and professional asset.

Last year, I worked for a 3D printing company as an office assistant. This position helped me to understand the vast and profound importance of collaboration in the work place. Because our company is low on labor resources, I was responsible not only for all accounting tasks but also overseeing online shipment preparation, which required close collaboration with my co-workers as well as the other companies with which we collaborate. If one step of this process is delayed or fails, then the shipments are delayed or even canceled. Thus, I came to quickly appreciate the way in which teamwork and team spirit is so crucial to conducting business, especially online in real time.

In my current position as a Central Service Technician, I prepare all medical equipment for delivery to the appropriate department as rapidly as possible. Working in this fast-paced environment, I have been still further impressed with the central importance of collaboration for task efficiency.

I am also currently taking a Data Analysis class that includes R programming as applied to real world cases. All these projects require critical thinking of what methods can best estimate the model. This class has not only taught me about R programming, which is essential for business analytics, but also train me to be more creative and think outside the box to look for innovation.

Short Answers

Answer the questions below. For each question, please respond in no more than 250 characters (the equivalent of about 50 words maximum).

What is your immediate post-graduation professional goal? (Please include desired employment industries, functions and geographic region in your answer.)

Earning my MS in Business Analytics at UCSD will provide me with the optimal springboard for making important contributions to business analysis, preferably as part of California’s heath care industry. I look forward to participating in innovation, searching for solutions to enhance the quality of patient care.

What are your long-term career goals?

My long-term career goal is to become a data analyst on the cutting-edge of the business world, playing diverse and important roles in the company that I serve. I look forward to making cultural as well as technical contributions that enable our company to make important contributions to our community.

Why do you need a Master of Science Business Analytics degree to achieve those goals at this point in your life?

Completing a thoroughgoing Master’s curriculum such as yours, with courses such as “Collecting and Analyzing Large Data” and “Business Intelligence Systems,” is an essential prerequisite for becoming a state-of-the-art business analyst. Your Master’s Program will provide me with a solid background for entering a competitive sector of the workforce.

Tell us about a recent accomplishment you had. ----- For example, how did you accomplish this? Who else was involved? What obstacles did you overcome? How did you positively influence a person, group, or organization as an employee, a member, or an outside constituent? What type of impact did this have on the organization? What did this experience teach you about collaboration, and how will it make you a better leader in your future roles?

I recently served as team leader for a group presentation, asking team members to pick subtopics that interested them to contribute to our group’s Power Point presentation, getting together to brainstorm and constructively critique each other’s work. This increased my confidence in my leadership skills, creativity, and organization.

Among all of my many favourite places in America, downtown Boston stands head and shoulders above the rest because of its intellectual atmosphere and the sheer density of the level of academic resources. The center of the city is my favourite space, and this has a lot to do with the fact that I have my sights set on earning my Master’s Degree at XXXX University, one of the principle world centers of business, finance, and commerce. I hope to be accepted into your Master’s in Information Systems Program in the College of Engineering because I see NEU as the ultimate springboard for launching a distinguished career specializing in the field of Data Architecture and Engineering.

I have been fascinated by numbers since my first arithmetic lessons. While others struggled, I saw beautiful patterns and possibilities from the beginning. By late childhood, my love of mathematics had also helped to inspire and channel a great fascination with computing and by adolescence I was already exploring the world of business applications on my screens. I have now earned two Bachelor’s degrees in the subjects that I love the most: Information Technology and in Information Management and Systems.

My studies at XXXX University have provided me with a great deal of depth and exposure in the area of analytics and I spend much of my free time these days on Google Analytics measuring and enhancing web site performance. I am currently learning R programming through the medium of on-line tutorials and textbooks. I am determined to be fully competent in this area in particular prior to the commencement of your program. My academic background, interests and career ambitions have all drawn me to Data Analytics as a a vital component in the success of any large enterprise, private or public. I am also excited about devoting my professional life to a ‘pioneering’ field in which new methods and techniques are constantly being developed and applied all towards the benefit of the common good. I seek the skills and knowledge that will enable me to be selected to work for a large Chinese company dealing with ‘big data’ and in assisting that company in the formulation of effective business strategies. I already have a comprehensive grounding in computing and its business applications so that I will be able to hit the ground running at XXXX, tackling problems logically in a search for elegant as well as effective solutions.

In 2014, I worked as an intern at the XXXX Library in their technology department for several months where I was responsible for constructing, maintaining and enhancing, computer systems and network infrastructure. This experience has heighted my level of confidence and resolve to succeed professionally. It is hoped that my dual undergraduate degrees and my internship experience may sway you to accept me to your program despite the fact that my GRE scores – with the exception of Mathematics - are not very impressive. Test taking has never been one of my most cultivated skills, and while I have made great strides in English, it will always be my second language, especially when I am being tested under time pressure. I am drawn to the study of data at XXXX University not only because of the great prestige of your faculty and comprehensive curriculum, but most of all because of your emphasis of and focus on ‘real world’ projects. I look forward to distinguishing myself, in particular, in the area of Marketing Analytics, and learning from my colleagues from around the world in one of the most diverse academic communities on the planet.

I thank you for considering my application.

Since that time, I have lived and worked in Tehran as a Senior Process Engineer and I now I have more than 5 years of full time professional experience in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries.

I believe that it is the right time for me to further develop my managerial skills and prepare myself for greater career challenges by earning a second Master’s Degree through XXXX University in Project Management. In this way, I will be able to assume increasing levels of responsibility and maximize my long term contribution to the economic and technological advancement of Iran, helping to solidify our place in the global economy and our peaceful interdependence with all of our global neighbors.

I very much appreciated the experience of earning my MSc in England because it helped me to grow in every way, culturally, linguistically, becoming increasingly international in my outlook to everything, especially my hopes and dreams for the future. I want very much to live and work increasingly internationally in the future, not just in Iran but hopefully around the world; particularly so as Iran continues to advance at overcoming years of sanctions and again fully integrating itself as a participatory member of the community of nations.

While my country has made enormous strides at technological development over the last half century in particular, we are still a developing country, 2nd Word. While we are light years ahead of our neighbor Afghanistan, for example, we ourselves linger far behind the USA and even Russia. I hope to see this gap at least partially overcome within my lifetime, with Iranian society catching up to some extent in the future.

I believe that most of our greatest challenges in the area of oil and gas result mostly from mismanagement and a shortage of professional project managers who know how to apply essential and effective strategies in the areas of risk management along with planning and procurement. Earning the Master’s in Project Management at XXXX will allow me to become a highly efficient project manager with a strong academic background, ultimately being able to make my maximum contribution to the advancement of our society.

I am very much attracted to the flexibility of your program at Georgetown since I need to study primarily online from Teheran. I also appreciate your applied, hands-on approach to problem solving in global, real world scenarios. I thrive on multidisciplinary approaches to development and your program at Georgetown is unparalleled in the breadth of its scope - stretching across a vast spectrum of disciplines.

XXXX is for me the door to leadership going forward, initiative, bringing different industries together in new ways for novel heights of productivity through collaboration. In addition to learning from your faculty and benefitting from their extensive experience based in the real world, I also look forward to learning from my peers from all over the world, particularly other parts of the Developing World where similar kinds of challenges are faced as with Iran.

Ten years from now I see myself as a highly mobile and successful project manager, inspired and enabled by the finest faculty in the world. I look forward to making important contributions to the struggle to keep the Oil and Gas industry safe; and as clean as possible. I have now spent several years in petrochemical plants and I could not feel more at home. In fact, I find my greatest joy and fulfillment simply monitoring plant operations.

I have also carried out extensive research as well as translating articles. I not only speak but also read and write Turkish in addition to my native Farsi and this might continue to be useful to my future contribution as well.

My professional endeavors have helped me to become highly practiced at good customer relations, enhanced communication and efficiency. I pride myself in my ability to build a rapport with the client along with first rate team performance and time management excellence. My volunteer work with a pharmacy in the city center has also contributed to my professional development, working under pressure in an extremely busy environment assisting multiple customers simultaneously.

I swim, play tennis, football, body build, and read incessantly. I also support campaigns to defend the environment such as Friends of the Earth.

I thank you for your consideration of my application.
