Masters Financial Engineering, Chinese

June 13, 2016

I am a firm believer that we do best in the areas that most interest us. For a variety of reasons, I am a young Chinese man, still 22, who is much more interested in international financial trends than anything else. This is what I read about most and reflect on. I find myself constantly curious about international developments in finance and related fields, especially the effects of political developments on financial trends, with particular attention to US China relations.

This is the primary reason why I feel that I am in a position to excel in your distinguished Master’s Program in Financial Engineering at XXXX University—my sheer interest in and devotion to the subject matter. Furthermore, I feel strongly that your program is the best platform for me to most fully recognize my long term goals of working as a consultant for business and especially financial transactions between my country, China, and the West, particularly the USA.

XXXX University is my first choice for graduate school for a variety of reasons foremost of which is the sheer excellence of your program combined with its thoroughly international character and diverse student body since I look forward to learning a great deal from my fellow students, some of the brightest minds from around the world, on the cutting-edge of developments in finance--as well as learning from my professors. I am convinced that completing your Master’s Program in Financial Engineering at XXXX University represents the optimal springboard upon which to launch my career with the highest level of preparation possible in order to become an exceptional developer of financial products, helping to bridge gaps and foment solidarity between nations, especially China and the USA, and in this way help to preserve peace and prosperity.

I want very much to devote my life to making complex financial products simpler; enabling people from around the globe to make more efficiently, especially the Chinese people. I imagine spending most of the rest of my life in China, but working and most of all thinking internationally. I love the USA and increasingly I have come to think of it as my second home. This is why building my career based on the relationship between my two countries serves to inspire me to work hard and think creatively. I am pleased that my country, China, is predicted by most indicators to be the major rising star economically not just in Asia but worldwide, within a few decades. I want to seize the opportunity presented and work for one of the leaders in my field, such as Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley. My long term goal is to build my own investment company. This past December I finished my BS in Agricultural Engineering with a Minor in Business, which included several finance courses. It was not until I had the opportunity to study finance that I fell in love with the subject and realized my calling in life.
